“Yes, ma’am. Keep demanding ‘cause it’s hot.” He chuckles from the bathroom, and I can’t help but smile as well. I shake my head and pat Purple, who’s whirling his tail from side to side, before going back to the bathroom with towels and fresh clothes. “I’m all yours.” He grins, lifting his arms in the air and showing me his beautiful skin.

If I thought Kai was a masterpiece with his clothes on, I didn’t know the true sense of the word until now. He’s like a muscular god, shaped with sharp edges and tough flesh.

My eyes sweep all over his body, enjoying the view, and as much as I’d like to continue watching him like a canvas, this is not the right time.

I shake my head, my gaze pointed at his face. “Get in the bathtub,” I say, gathering the clothes he threw on the floor and putting them in the basket.

He does as I say, a dumb look on his face. I ignore it and take the shower faucet, turn the cold water on, and splash it right on his face. Kai’s eyes close, and he tries to protect himself from the jet by raising his palms, but it doesn’t work.

“Fuck, it’s cold,” he mutters, and by the time I’m done, he looks like he turned back to earth.

Water gathers under his chin, pouring on his chest afterward. I try to not let my eyes wander on his body, only focusing on his head when I go and sit behind him.

“Lower a bit," I tell him, and he does, without needing me to repeat.

I pour a little of my blueberry shampoo and work my way through his hair strands until it makes foam. All the time, hewatches me with sleepy eyes but never loses the battle with sleep. I swallow, his gaze constant on me as I massage his scalp.

“What?” I ask.

“You’re a good wife.” He smiles with one corner of his mouth. “Am I a good husband, Ray?”

His question catches me off guard. I stop shampooing his hair but keep my hands there.

Is he serious?

No other person in this world has treated me as well as he treats me. When I’m with him, I don’t think about who people expect me to be or if something I did was weird or not. I’mme. He treats me like a goddamn queen.

“Yes, Kai. You’re the best husband,” I admit. “But a less best husband when you get drunk instead of coming to me.” I smile, seeing a little one forming on his lips as well.

“Got it.” He nods under my palms. “Not going to happen again.”

I agree with a bob of my head and turn the water on at a slow pressure, then slowly remove the shampoo from his hair while I keep massaging his head to help him relax. His eyes never leave my face as I wash him, and when I’m done with his hair and want to get up, his arm grabs on mine. I stop, glancing down at him.

“Can I have a kiss?” He lifts his brows at the same time a little grin takes over his lips.

“Ask me when you’re sober, and I might give it to you.” I wink at him, walking outside of the bathroom when I hear him talking again.

“You should be glad I’m not sober because if I were, you wouldn’t be able to walk out of this bathroom on your legs.”

My mouth parts open.

I look at him over my shoulders, his eyes closed as a relieved sigh falls past his lips. He’s so relaxed, while a storm starts insideof me, making my heart and clit throb at the same speed under the spell of his words.

Because I don’t know what else to do, I go back to the room and sneak under the sheets, waiting for him to join me.

It’s strange because he never talks that way to me, but it’s also a threat that my insides can’t wait to meet.

I quiver under the blankets, and Kai comes outside of the bathroom, a towel circled on his head and behind his ears. I have to swallow the laugh threatening to escape. “What are you doing?”

His eyes flicker to me. “Not in the mood to dry my hair.”

Kai climbs into bed, sighing and throwing an arm around my waist. I keep my giggle inside at his hilarious looks and follow the demand of his hand, snuggling closer to him. He inhales deeply, kissing the back of my ear.

“I smell like you, or you smell like me?” he asks, and this time, I burst out laughing.

“Both,” I say, getting more comfortable. “We should go to sleep, Kai.”

“Mmmm.” He lets out an unpleasant murmur.
