I stood up from where I was sitting and walked to her, pulling her into my arms as she cried, “I don’t know what I would have done, Rae.If Leo wasn’t there, then I really wouldn’t have made it.”
I pulled her back and wiped the tears from her eyes.“But he was there, Tal, and you’re safe now.”
“Yeah, but for how long?Miles Carter doesn’t strike me as a guy who gives up.”
“I don’t know, but I’m sure the guys will figure something out.”
“You trust them, right?”
“I do.I trust Beckett with everything and Leo seems to have proven himself, right?”
“He’s kind of amazing.”
“Who, Beckett?”
“Yeah, him too,” she said with a small laugh.
I went to the coffeepot and poured her a cup.She was so busy getting something for me she hadn’t gotten any for herself.“Come sit down with me.I want to hear all about Leo while I eat.”
Talia’s smile broke through her tears and she wiped her face clean.“What do you want to know?”
“You can start with why you both hadn’t come down for breakfast yet and you showed up a minute ago with matching wet hair.”
“I guess we weren’t that good at keeping things a secret,” she said with a laugh.
“Does it need to be?”
“I guess not any more.”
“How did it all start?”
“You’ve seen him, right?I mean, sure Beckett is hot, but Leo…” I laughed as she fanned herself with her free hand.
“How long have you two been together?”
“Honestly, I don’t even know if we are together.Things have been so confusing.Last night was the first time we were alone long enough to finish all the things we had started.”
Talia’s smile and genuine happiness were leaking out of her.The things she saw and experienced with Miles were appalling, but Leo was there, and he was already making things better for her.
“Do you think you guys will come back to New York with us?”
“I don’t know.”
“How have things been since you got back from Colorado?”
“A whirlwind.You will never believe it, but Beckett owns a sex club!”
“A what?”
“Okay, not a sex club exactly, but it’s a private kink club called The Pendulum, and it’s in New York City, and he took me there.”
