Page 4 of Finding Answers For Confused Succubi

I raise an eyebrow and lean back in my seat, not knowing what to make of that.It doesn't really feel right to be charging people for advice when none of us really know what we're talking about.Though I suppose this is coming from the place of matchmaking cupids and not from a therapy point of view.

"All right, so that's what's happening, we're starting on Friday.Who's available?"Rico looks around the room.

"I've got work," Carmel says."I can do the afternoon, but only until four."

"Great, I'll put you in the three to four slot," Rico says, tapping something on his tablet."What about you two?"he asks me and the other member of the committee.

"I can do four to five," I say.Though I suspect I'm going to spend most of the hour catching up on my coursework when no one shows up, but I guess that's not a huge deal.

"Great," Rico responds."Viktor?"

"I can't do Friday," the other cupid says."But I can do next week."

Rico scowls, but nods anyway."All right, I'll put some ads in the newsletter going out tomorrow, the editor owes me a favour anyway."

"I wonder what kind of favour that is?"Carmel murmurs to me.

I snort."It could be anything from an accidental insult to blackmail knowing Rico."

"All right, I think that's everything, unless someone has anything else they need to talk about?"Rico asks.

We shake our heads, none of us wanting to prolong this longer than we have to.The HeartSoc events where everyone is invited are a lot of fun, but the meetings like this not so much.

"See you Friday," Rico says, getting to his feet and heading out of the room.

"I have a meeting," Viktor responds, following him.

"And I don't.Want to grab a drink at the bar?"Carmel asks.

"Sure.But won't your girlfriend mind?"

"Eurgh, don't get me started," she responds, getting to her feet."She minds everything I do these days.I can barely step out of my flat without doing something wrong."

"I'm sorry."

Carmel shrugs."It's just a phase."

"Okay, from the expression on your face, that drink is definitely needed."And I worry about her, all things considered.

"Yep, before I have to go deal withmorerelationship drama."She gets to her feet and grabs her bag."You're buying, right?"

"I thought you had a job?"

"I do, but all of that money ends up going to rent and food."

I snort."Sure, I'll buy.But only if you promise me you're not going to complain about your girlfriend for the next twenty minutes."

She grimaces."Sorry, I do keep doing that, don't I?"

"A little bit."

"Oh look, the bar's not too busy at least."She gestures to it as if I need a reminder of where it is.

We head over and take a seat on two of the empty bar stools and flag down the bartender.

"A pint of cider, please," I say.

"Oh, same," Carmel adds.
