“I don’t tell, I show.”

I move on top of her where I begin our nightly ritual of making sweet love. Afterwards, we pull each other close, slipping into a deep sleep to cap off the end of another amazing day.

KYRA

It’s been a few weeks since we brought out Traisius for his first walk. Since then, it has become a regular part of our daily routine. Life has been amazing, even then that wasn’t describing it well enough. Having Zy as my romantic partner has filled the strange void inside of me that had been clawing and scraping for so long.

I can’t believe I put off my true feelings for him for the longest time. To think I could have had this from the very start if I hadn’t tossed him aside one random night… Reflecting back on what I did, I realize now that I’d been way too focused on getting out of my Indenture contract.

I was so blinded by the thought of freedom that the love brewing between Zy and I became invisible to me. All I had on my mind was getting out of Mosar’s clutches, consumed so much by that motive that I put up a shield, blocking out my romantic feelings for Zy.

I couldn’t do the same for my heart though. It seems like he was always finding his way in there. Now that I finally decided to give into those feelings, they’ve only become stronger than they’ve ever been.

Through Zy, every aspect about my life has gotten better. I have an amazing son that I raise with him. I have a wonderful home that we nurture together. I have a wondrous best friend in him. On top of everything, I’m making money for the security of our future now that I’ve returned to work.

What happened on that fateful evening fucked me up like nothing else before. It took me so long to get over both physically and mentally but Zy went above and beyond to ensure I made it every step of the way. He’s also used his influence within the city guard to help ensure my safety.

I know that when I step outside that door, there’ll be a city guard nearby, patrolling the streets with cautious eyes. Even though right now it’s daytime, it wouldn’t matter if it’s pitch black outside, the fact of the matter is that I feel safer than I ever have before. Having spent an hour here at the tavern on my day off, I decided it’s time to return home.

“I’ll be off then,” I call out to Nova.

“Okay, see you soon. Say hi to Zy and Traisius for me!” she replies.

“I sure will.”

“Oh Kyra?”

“Yes?” I say, spinning around to face her.

“It’s so good to see you doing better these days,” says Nova, a warm smile etching its way across her face.

Smiling back, I then turn and make way for the exit. Stepping through the door to the outside, I look around. Just as predicted, there stands a member of the city guard across the street. He gestures to me with a nod.

“All is well today madam?” he calls out.

“Yes, thank you.”

“No problem. Have a safe journey home madam.”

I begin the walk home without a care in the world. Thanks to the combined efforts of Zy and the city guard, I no longer even feel the need to continuously glance over my shoulder.

Best of all, I hadn’t seen Mosaer since the night of the incident. All I heard were rumors swirling of his upcoming trial.

Karma always comes back for everyone, good or bad,I think to myself with a smile. I continue my journey home at a leisurely pace, knowing I’ll soon be back in the arms of the one I love, hearing the coos and laughter of our child as we cuddle.

The next daybrings with it a heavy dose of sun, its rays piercing through the whisperings of clouds dotted all about the blue skies. In my arms is Traisius, whomst I let down to waddle about every few minutes. Zy is working today so I thought I would take our son out for a walk along the beach.

I step onto the sand, sprawling and digging my toes into its grainy texture, coating my feet with curtains of soft brown sand. Closing my eyes, I breathe in the clean ocean air, hit with the aroma of salt and sea. All that can be heard is the soft and gentle crashing of small tides against the beach face, occasionally interrupted by the shrill caws of mynah circling above in search of their next meal.

“Ah!” exclaims Traisius.

“Hmm? Do you want to get down?” I ask.

“Ah!”
