Page 41 of Risky Behavior: Submitting to the Ruthless Guard
“What is this? You set me up?” Carter cried out in disbelief.
“Oh, come on, you can’t tell me you didn’t recognize the resemblance?”
Noah leaned over and pulled me into his side, “I know the beard is sexy but come on, man. You’re losing your touch.”
“I don’t think he ever had it.”
Caters gaze swung up to me and his eyes went wide.
“What the fuck are you doing back here?”
“What do you think?”
Noah swung again, this time knocking him in the ribs, and the old man screamed in pain.
“Slow down. I have information I need from him.”
“I need a drink.”
I reached for Carter’s neck as Noah made his way to the bar. “Now tell me who the fuck you sent after Talia.”
“Fuck you.”
“Carter, this isn’t really going your way. You have two guys who work for me and three dead with you. Look around. No one here seems to give a fuck that you are about to die.”
“Hey, how did you guys get guns in here?” Noah yelled from the bar. “They made me give mine up at the door.”
“Carter bribed the doorman.” One guy answered.
“Leo, why didn’t you think of that?”
“Because we didn’t need it, Noah. Now, can I get back to what I was trying to do here?”
Carter was trying to wiggle out of my grasp as we all talked about him like he wasn’t even there. “Who, Carter? I want names.”
“Fuck you.” He grunted more than spoke that time since I tightened my grip around his neck. Noah came up behind him with a garrotte and I moved my hand just in time for him to place it over his neck, freeing my hands to do as I wished.
I reached for the gun, released the safety and pointed it straight at his junk. “Listen, you are going to die tonight. That’s not up for debate. You can either go quick with a bullet to the head or I will start blowing off body parts while my brother strangles you.”
He opened his mouth and nothing but a wheezing sound came out. I looked up at Noah, and he was struggling to keep composure. Slow deaths were never his thing. Messy murder was more up his alley, but he understood my need to keep Talia safe.
“Last time Carter. Who did you hire?”
“Some guys out of New York. I don’t know them. One of my contacts set it up and I wired the money. Now let me go.”
I held my gun under Carter’s chin, forcing his head up, which only tightened the hold the metal wire had on his neck. “No, Carter. You rape and assault women. You tried to rape the love of my life and because of that, you die.”
“Come on, man, I’ll let you have her. I’ll call the guys off. Just let me go.”
“You’ll never stop. Men like you need to be put down. You’re like a rabid animal.”
The gun went off and my brother’s laughter as he was covered in blood, was the only thing I heard in the room. The men and women who had been there watching started moving forward as I stepped back and threw the gun in Carter’s lap. Noah wasn’t done, though. He pulled the wire tight, choking the dead man as if he were still alive, then reached for his gun and started shooting his corpse.
I turned my back on the scene in front of me and walked toward the door.
“Noah, that’s enough,” I said loud enough for him to hear me as I walked from the back room and back through the now empty bar we had entered through. As I got in the SUV parked out front, I pulled out the burner phone I had and dialed Ares.
“Hey, I need you to look into something for me…”
