"Declan," she whispers again against my mouth.
I force myself to stop and wrap my arms around her as she rests her forehead against mine. "Be my girlfriend, Lena. I want you, no matter what that entails. I don't care what you've been through or what it's going to take to get over it. I want you, all of you."
She presses her lips to mine several times as she runs her fingers through my hair, sending shivers down my back and goosebumps to rise across my arms.
"Be mine. Please?" I kiss her again.
When she leans in again to kiss me, there's a salty wetness on her lips, and it brings me up short.
"Are you crying? Baby, what's wrong?" I go to loosen my hands, but she tightens her legs around me and her fists in my hair.
"Don't," she says in a panic. "Don't let go of me." She kisses me again and I tighten my grip on her.
"Never, baby. I promise."
She rests her head against my shoulder and I turn to walk back to the blanket with her still firmly clasped around me.
That isn’t how I intended to do this tonight, but I'll take it. As I sink to my knees and set her back on the blanket, she pulls me toward her and kisses me again.
Shit . . . I think I'm in love with Lena Harrison.
