Page 76 of Run to Me

That’s the only thing going through my mind as I bolt towards the bathroom that I saw Robyn and Lia go inside. The button on the watch isn’t the type that can be triggered easily, there’s no way it was an accident.

She pressed the panic button.

I stagger into the women’s bathroom with my pulse thrumming in my ears only to find the place empty. I check all of the stalls, but there’s no one fucking here. There’s a door in the corner of the room and I charge towards it, pulling my gun from the waistband of my slacks as I do.

She pressed the panic button.

My foot meets the door, and it flies open. Turns out the door leads out to the alleyway behind the restaurant, yet there’s still no one fucking here.

“What the hell is going on?” Luca’s voice booms from behind me and I turn, dejected, to find half my fucking family standing and looking at me with concern in their eyes.

I spin back around towards the entrance of the alley and am about to pull the tracker up on my phone, only for something with a metal glint to catch my attention and I bolt towards it.

“Fuck!” I roar.

It’s her fucking watch. The watch which holds the fucking tracker. Which means…

Someone’s taken my fuckingwife.

My lungs constrict as I struggle to take a breath.

No.

This can’t be fucking happening.

They’ve been taken.

My wife.

My baby.

I swore to protect them, to spend my life ensuring they were safe.

A couple hours of marriage and they’ve been taken.

But who the fuck would even dare to take them? The Blue Vipers threat is gone, and it’s not like we’re at war anymore.

Is she okay? Are they hurting her? Is she…

Nope, I can’t even finish that thought in my mind. There’s no fucking way.

She’s okay.

Wherever she is, she’s okay.

Shehasto be.

My sweet, angelic wife.

She’ll be okay.

I’ll paint this fucking city in blood to get her back.

I’m so lost in my fucking head that I didn’t even realize I was kneeling on the ground. Or that my eldest brother had approached me until I feel his hand grabbing my shoulder.

“Talk to us, what’s going on?”

“She pressed the panic button,” I rasp and hold up the watch. “She wouldn’t have pressed it if she wasn’t in danger, which means someone’s fucking taken them.”
