“Good, you better. Do you want me to stick around with you guys and come to Blue Moon? Or would you rather me let you have some time with your new family?” she asks and flicks her gaze towards the chaotic bunch gathered that I guess now really are my family like Enzo’s been saying all along.

“You’ll always be a part of my family, Lia. Please come.” I plead with my eyes, and she rolls hers.

“Of course,” she says with a grin, and it feels like no time has passed between us even though it’s been months since we’ve seen each other, and I have a hell of a lot to catch her up on. She pulls her cell from her purse and waves it in the air. “Just gotta cancel tonight’s date,” she says with a wink.

The restaurant is busy when we arrive, but we’re shown to a table big enough for all of us in a private room, so we at least have some kind of privacy. This place is one of the most exclusive restaurants in New York, and I dread to think how much this reservation cost Alec, especially with us having a private room.

I take a seat between Enzo and Lia, facing Marco. The atmosphere throughout the meal is chaotic as usual with the Romano’s, and adding Lia, Alec and Jax into the mix makes it even worse, but it causes a warmth in my chest that I’ve never felt before.

With this family, I don’t feel so alone, I feelseen.Well, as seen as I want them too. No one has caught on to the fact that both me and Enzo aren’t drinking wine with our food like the rest of them, and I’m hoping it stays that way. It’d probably be a lot less obvious if Enzo would just drink, but I’m not having that argument with him again.

The day after we found out I was pregnant and I informed him that I couldn’t drink the coffee he had made me, he looked like I’d kicked a puppy before pouring both of our coffee’s down the sink. When I asked him what the hell he was doing, he replied with, “We’re both in this together. We’re pregnant, we can’t drink caffeine or alcohol or eat sushi” like it was the most normal thingin the world. He then went and started googling what you could and couldn’t do during pregnancy. I swear he spent hours reading article after article, making sure he knew everything he needed to know.

I’ve read a lot of books in my life, had a lot of book boyfriends, and not one of them have ever been as supportive and attentive as my husband.

Everyone’s chatting away with each other, laughing and joking when Lia nudges me with her elbow so I turn to face her.

“Come to the bathroom with me?”

I nod to her, press a kiss to Enzo’s cheek and murmur that I’ll be back before Lia and I make our exit and head to the bathroom.

Once inside, Lia spins around to face me with her brow arched, she fists her hips. “So,that’syour new family, huh?”

Chapter Forty-Two

Izzy

My eyes are transfixed on my brother-in-law who’s sitting next to me as his eyes trail after his new wife.

When I first met him and he asked me to look into her, I never could have imagined this would be the outcome. I figured he’d look into her and then it would be done with, or he’d just continue to watch over her from a distance like he had been.

But no, our little Enzo has gone and got himself all loved up, and got himself fucking married. Also unknowingly winning me a bet against Luca.

I love Robyn. Not only is she good for Enzo, but I think she’s good for the rest of the family too. Marco seems to come out of his shell more around her, and actually cracks a smile every now and then, even going so far as to laugh with her. Luca likes talking to her, she gels well with his softer side and Salvatore absolutely adores her, much the same as he does me. And me? Well, I’ve never really had any true girlfriends before, but Robyn’s the type of person who you can just click with instantly. I can’t wait to get to know her more when Enzo finally lets her out of his clutches.

“Can’t take your eyes off her, can you?” I say once Robyn’s out of sight. His gaze swings to me and a wide smile lights up his face.

“Have youseenher? Of course I can’t.”

I shake my head in mock exasperation, because I know exactly how he feels. I feel that way with my husband. And Luca is the same with me, considering he’s sitting staring at me right now, ignoring whatever it is Alec is talking about in his ear.

I open my mouth, about to tease him further when his brow furrows and he pulls his phone from his pocket. Whatever he sees on the screen has his arm freezing and his face turns a ghostly shade of white.

Something’s wrong.

“What is it?”

My voice snaps him out of his stupor, and he jumps to his feet, the movement jolting the table and halting the conversation around us. He doesn’t answer me though, he just runs towards the bathroom like his life depends on it, and I have a gut feeling that it does.

Chapter Forty-Three

Enzo

She pressed the panic button on her watch.

She pressed the panic button.

She wouldn’t do that if she didn’t need to.
