“No, angel. He specifically asked that I bring you, he wants to meet you.”

She gapes at me as realization sinks in and I know exactly what she’s thinking. The Don of the New York Mafia wants to meet her.

“He’s happy that I’m happy and wants to meet you and welcome you to the family, is all. I promise you we’re just like any other family, there won’t be any gunshots or knives being thrown tonight because I’ve already apologized like you asked me to. Please come angel, I want you there, and I want you to meet my family properly.”

Her teeth clamp down on her bottom lip before she gives me a reluctant nod and I grin like an idiot.

“Love you, angel.”

She rolls her eyes and sighs. “Yeah, yeah. I love you too.”

Ican feel the nerves emanating from Robyn as she sits beside me while I drive to our family’s estate.

“Not sure why you’re so worried, angel. You’ve already met Marco, Luca and Izzy. Trust me, my dad’s the nicest one out of all of us.”

“The head of the Mafia is the nicest one out of all of you?” she asks with a raised brow when I flick my gaze towards her.

“Well… no. Not really. When it comes to business, he’s one scary motherfucker that you don’t wanna be up against. But when it comes to family? That man is like a giant teddy bear and would do anything for every one of us, you included. Did you know it was his idea for you to come and stay with me? And it was him who originally appointed your guards? He also checked in with them regularly to make sure you were safe. I promise you; he already loves you. And once he meets you, he’ll probably end up loving you more than he does me. You have nothing at all to be nervous about. So, for the love of God, please stop biting down on that lip of yours before I end up having to pull this car over and stuff your mouth with my cock because, angel, you’re turning me on so fucking much and if you keep going, I’m gonna lose my shit.”

She immediately releases her lip and whispers, “Sorry.” Though the smirk she follows it up with shows she isn’t apologetic in the slightest.

We pull up to the gates and a guard gives me a nod before letting us through and I park right near the front entrance.

I jump out and round the car to open the door for Robyn before she even has a chance. Though it’s not like she’s rushing, she’s too busy taking in her surroundings to even make a move.

Once she’s out of the car, I take her hand in mine and we walk towards the door.

“This is where you grew up?” The awe in her tone as she peers around makes me realize just how differently we grew up. I knowshe didn’t grow up poor, but for someone who grew up middle class, I guess the large estate my father calls a home can seem like another world entirely.

I don’t respond, I only squeeze her hand and pull her along.

The door opens before we even finish making our way up the steps, and I’m shocked when none other than my dad comes into view. Usually it would be Beatrice, our family’s housekeeper who greets us, but I’m guessing Robyn gets special treatment from him.

Robyn’s hand tightens around mine and I swing my head towards her before glancing back at my father. He stands wearing a three-piece suit as per usual, the unusual thing is the wide smile he’s sporting on his face, that only usually comes out maybe twice a year, and that’s only when he’s had too much whiskey.

“You must be Robyn, it’s lovely to meet you sweetheart,” he says as we reach him, and he pulls her into a hug. Robyn goes willingly, but she doesn’t let go of my hand, she’s holding on to me like I’m her lifeline and that’s absolutely fine by me. I’ll be anything she wants me to be.

Fuck, if she told me she wanted me dead I’d probably kneel at her feet and blow my motherfucking brains out. Anything to make her happy.

“Nice to meet you too, Mr. Romano,” she says sweetly once he lets her go and I pull her to me, wrapping my arms around her shoulders and resting my chin on her head, needing to feel her close to me.

“None of that,” he says and rolls his eyes. “You’re family now, call me Salvatore.”

Jesus, he’s laying it on a bit thick.

“Hey Dad, nice to see you too.” I scowl and pull Robyn past him and into the living room, ignoring his chuckle as I do.

It doesn’t take me long to realize we’re the last to arrive. Marco, Luca and Izzy are all in the living room. Marco’s sat in the armchair, ignoring everyone and focusing on his phone while Luca and Izzy seem to be bickering in the corner.

“What’s wrong with you two?”

Marco’s head snaps up first, he barely spares me a glance before slightly nodding at Robyn and returns his gaze to his phone. Meanwhile, Luca and Izzy are both glaring at me from where they stand. I swear those two were a fucking match made in Hell, they’re so goddamn alike it would be comical if I didn’t appear to be in some sort of trouble.

“What’s wrong? What’s wrong is you agreed to buy my idiot hus…fiancé,”Luca grunts as he hears her call him fiancé, he doesn’t like the fact he’s been demoted. “A fucking tv. We have four in our apartment. What the fuck does he need another for? You’re just encouraging his shit.”

Thisis what they’re arguing about?

I glance towards Luca, and he subtly shakes his head. “Okay, I’m not even gonna reply to that, you two are just fucking crazy.”
