The thought of my brothers coming in had my hips stopping, but it took every ounce of self-control I had to do it.
Which at the moment wasn’t much. They’d better hurry up this conversation.
“What’s wrong?” Adam said. The urgency in Spencer’s voice had him practically running into the room. He was a bit breathless as he stared at us.
It took about two seconds before it hit him.
“Fuck, Ollie, I’m so sorry. I should have...”
“No,” I cut him off. “Don’t go there. This is not on you. Not everything in the world is on your shoulders, Adam.”
His guilt had me sobering up for a moment.
Spencer took advantage of that, barking out orders. “It’s too late. I can’t move him out of here. He’s almost falling completelyinto this heat. I need somebody to go get us a mattress. I don’t care if it’s an air mattress, but he needs more than we have. I know he deserves better, a real nest, and I will give it to him next time, but right now, we are going to work with what we’ve got.”
“We’re going to have to air this place out,” Dustin protested. The amusement in his eyes at least told me he was joking and I didn’t have it in me to be offended. He was right.
“Thank goodness that the snow let up enough,” Adam muttered. “Or we’d be in a bad place. We were just coming to let you guys know.”
I let out a groan at the mention of the snow. “You mean to tell me that we could have left, and now I have to stay here for longer?”
Spencer chuckled. “We could try to get you home, but...”
All my protests fell away when Lindsay came into the room. When she saw everyone crowding around me, she hurried over to see what was wrong with me.
“Ollie, are you sick? Is everything?—?”
Her words cut off too as she took in a deep breath.
“Oh no, what do we do?” she asked, looking at Spencer, practically frantic.
We’d never been open about what I did to get through my heats, and I couldn’t take suppressors, so that was never an option.
“Angel, he’s going into heat right now. There’s no way we can avoid this. He wants me to help him through it, but he wants you here too.”
“Me?” When she asked the question, my chest tightened, and I braced for her to tell me no. She must have seen something on my face because her expression softened.
“Do you want my help too, Ollie?”
“More than anything,” I pleaded. I hadn’t meant to sound desperate, but there was no taking it back now.
“We’re going to get supplies. I’m sure everybody is rushing to the store after that storm, so I can’t promise how quickly we’ll be back,” Adam said with a frown.
“I think we can handle it,” I told him before I pulled Lindsay toward me. She let out a surprised gasp before I crushed my lips to hers. The others left but I didn’t bother to say goodbye. I had other things on my mind.
There was no way I was letting this opportunity pass me by.
Kissing Lindsay for the first time was everything. There was no other way to describe it.
Her lips were soft, her scent strong, and she tasted like heaven.
Spencer shifted me enough that I was able to pull her in close until he had both of us in his lap. I don’t know how he managed it, nor did I care, all I could focus on now was her tongue tangling with mine.
Her soft whimper nearly did me in. The moment Spencer let go of my hand, I took Lindsay’s.
“Are you sure about this?”
She chewed on her lip, clearly nervous, but she wasn’t walking away. Lindsay was never the type to do anything she didn’t want to, so I would take her word for it, and I knew she meant it.
