Sunny’s phone rang, and he answered. Sunny’s whole body stiffened, and he muttered a few words before hanging up and turning to us. “That was Chatter. The cameras picked nothing up, and they weren’t jammed either.”

“What the fuck?” Wraith demanded.

“Isn’t this what happened at my house? The feed being hacked and continuously looping?” I murmured, worried.

“I’ll have to go and check. Chatter doesn’t have the skills for that,” Sunny said.

“This isn’t good. Who the fuck is this guy? Kendara, have you ever dated or fucked off someone in the military? This guy’s abilities make me think armed forces,” Big Al asked.

“No. I rarely went on dates, as I was so busy building my career. Upsetting somebody in the military? Absolutely not. None of my clients havehad links to the armed forces,” I mused as I thought back to every person I’d represented.

“No family members or friends?” Big Al persisted.

“I’d like to say no, but I can’t be one hundred per cent. Of course, I didn’t get full backgrounds, so there could be a pissed-off cousin or brother somewhere.”

“We’re going to have to do some deep searches, Kenny. Not on the clients you defended!” Big Al said quickly, seeing my glower. “But on their spouses or ex-partners.”

“I can get you their names and addresses, but you better not pry into my clients. They were victims,” I stressed.

“Totally agree, sweetness, we won’t dig into them unless we have to. It could be one of them had a brother that fixated on you,” Big Al said.

“Big Al, my clients are off limits,” I emphasised.

“We’ll do what we gotta do to protect you, Kendara. But I agree for now, and if we have to look into them, we can have another conversation.” Big Al offered an olive branch.

“Fine by me,” I agreed.

The door opened, and Rooster angrily strode across the room. He folded me into his arms, and I burrowed into his body. “You okay, my Kenny girl?” he murmured.

“I am now you’re home. The stalker is back. It’s not worth putting the boys at risk,” I whispered, suddenly aware of my hands shaking. I fisted them into Rooster’s tee.

“You had two,” Rooster replied, and I stiffened inhis arms. What?

People began moving around us, and Chey touched me on the shoulder. “Hear him out, Kenny. This is where their alphaassholeness kicks in.”

“Okay,” I murmured. I lifted my head and saw we were alone. I speared Rooster with a dark look. “Start talking.”

“Clive Parsons admitted being the one to run you off the road, and he was also behind the attempted hit and run. But he didn’t break into your house and move shit around,” Rooster said.

“And you know this how?”

Rooster sent me a stare that I couldn’t decipher. “Do you need to know?”

“Yes.”

Rooster pulled out his wallet and yanked a twenty-dollar bill from it. “If I hire you, then I have attorney and client privilege?”

“Yes,” I replied, guessing where he was going.

Rooster handed me the bill. “You now work for me. I can wait for a contract. Hellfire knows Parsons didn’t do that shit because we brought him in. Parsons took a severe beating, but while he admitted the vehicle attempts, he denied being in your house.”

“Where is Clive, Rooster?”

I already knew the answer deep down. But I needed to hear Rooster admit it. I had to know Rooster trusted me. I silently ripped the bill in half and handed it back. Rooster studied me.

“Clive Parsons died at my hand, Kendara, after my club—with Onyx and Venom—beat him to a pulp.Every fuckin’ injury Parsons put on Lola and his kids, every bruise he caused you, we gave him. Then I took my knife and stabbed Parsons in the throat and let him choke to death on his own blood.”

I held Rooster’s eyes.
