I laid on the bed over his lap while he rubbed arnica ointment into my backside.“Are you sure?If nights there end like this, then I would be okay stopping by every day.”

Beckett’s finger caught my chin.“Don’t shy away from me when I compliment you.”
“I’m sorry.I’m just not used to all this.Life has always thrown me my fair share of curve balls.I’m a bigger girl and it took me a while to believe in myself and my beauty, but hearing someone other than my mother tell me I’m beautiful, is all new to me.”

His lips came down on my shoulder and I closed my eyes as I felt his hand come over my belly.
“What if it never happens?”I asked as I covered his hand with my own.
“Then it doesn’t.We will be okay.”
“But you need a child and a wife to keep the company.”
“I know I do, but we will be perfectly fine if that doesn’t happen.”
“How?”
“I have enough money to keep us happy for longer than we will live.Ashlee and William have always been my concern, but maybe she will let me support them until William is school age.”
“Would you be okay if it was just us?”
“You are everything I need out of this life.If we don’t have a biological child and you still want a family, then there are plenty of other ways to make that happen.I’ll give you anything you need, Raven.I promise you that.”
I smiled and leaned forward to kiss Beckett just as his phone buzzed on the nightstand.
“Who could that be at this hour?”
“The only numbers that aren’t blocked this late at night are Leo and Ashlee.I should get it.”
I crawled off of him and reached for my robe as he looked down at the caller ID.
“Hey, is everything okay?”he said as he answered.
“When?”
