I could easily get lost in this man. Never come up for air. Years could pass, and I’d likely not even realize it. He makes me lose myself, and I both love and hate that idea.

I’ve worked so hard at becoming who I am. To help women like my mother and Laken. To make my coffee shop a success. I have everything right now, and I’m worried that if I let Torque wholly into my heart, I’ll lose it all because my attention will be so focused on him. On us.

Laken would tell me that’s not so bad, and she’d be right. But what about afterwards? When the veil lifts, and we find there’s a whole world outside of us.

“You’re thinking too hard,” my companion says as he helps me from his truck, and the valet takes it away. “Everything okay?” With a hand on my back, Torque leads me inside, where we immediately notice Laken and Hale.

“I’m fine.” I smile up at him, forcing my weird thoughts to the back of my mind, needing to stop delving so deep inside my head.

“Hi!” Laken pops up, much to Hale’s disgruntlement, given he’d been holding her against his side.

“You guys got here quick.” My smile is genuine this time. I love seeing Laken so joyful. She deserves it more than anyone else I know.

“Which is surprising because my husband drives slower than an old man with me in the car.” She snickers at his growl as he hauls her back down to sit nearly in his lap.

Torque holds out my chair for me before taking a seat. He doesn’t hesitate to drag me closer until we bump hips. Dropping a possessive hand on my thigh, his hand works up closer to the apex, and I find myself squirming in my seat already. The way he makes me feel is incomparable. Placing my hand over his, I don’t discourage him as he goes higher.

Biting my lip when he realizes what I did, I suppress the shiver his wicked curse produces. I feel his eyes on me, but I keep mine glued to the wine menu in front of me, pretending to browse the selections when I don’t register a damn thing.

He may be angry, but that doesn’t stop him from taking advantage and slipping two thick fingers between my folds, tracing my lips gently, teasingly. Tantalizing my senses until my nipples nearly poke out of my dress.

“You shouldn’t have done that, Philly,” he breathes into my ear, licking the shell before biting the lobe. A whimper escapes me, despite how hard I try to hide it.

“You okay, Ophelia?” Laken asks, but I’m unable to answer her. Torque has pushed a finger up into my opening, and he’s rubbing that spot inside that makes my entire body detonate as he brushes across my clit with his thumb.

“Don’t even think about it,” he warns, pressing firmer against me. “You save that orgasm until we’re home and you can scream the walls down.” I give a sharp nod, but if he keeps it up, I won’t last.

“I’m fine,” I gasp when he finishes rubbing me, instead leaving his finger inside my pussy, causing me to throb around the digit as I attempt to control my breathing.

“Sure.” Laken grins, giving me a knowing look. “Whatever you say.”

As the server arrives to take our drink orders, Torque pinches my clit when I go to order wine and levels me with a look that screams I should know better. It takes a second for my lust-fogged brain to catch his meaning. A fierce blush alights my body whole as I remember the amount of times we made love without protection. Something he seems intent on repeating, I realize now as I search his face.

After amending my order to sparkling strawberry water, I wait until he’s gone again and Hale and Torque begin talking shop as Laken flips through a baby room design eBook, showing me furniture for the nursery she’s interested in. Needing more from Torque, I slip my hand across his lap. His legs tense, but otherwise, there’s no outward reaction when I cup his steely shaft, dragging my nails up and down his length.

His finger twitches inside my pussy, but I don’t stop. I had no idea he’d like this bite of pain on such a sensitive part of his body. I don’t grant him any mercy as I point out a chair to Laken, causing her to show Hale, and he nods. She sighs up at him, giving him lovey eyes, which has him kissing her senseless.

“You’d better knock it off, Philly,” Torque growls in my ear, a clear warning in his tone.

“You didn’t.” My lips lift into a serene smile.

“Playing with fire, woman,” he grunts when I drag my fingers across his balls.

Leaning up, I whisper in his ear, “Promise?”

Torque

She has no fucking clue just what I plan to do to her when we get back to her place. Or mine. Wherever my truck leads us. I’m going to keep her pinned to that bed until she begs me to stop.

Fuck, now I can’t stop picturing that.

I wonder how she’d feel about being tied up. Forced to have one orgasm after another until her body can’t take it anymore. I have every intention of finding out. She’ll be screaming until she’s hoarse. And just when she reaches her threshold, I’ll fuck her so deep that she’ll feel me inside her womb for a month. Where I’ll hopefully plant a baby. If I haven’t already.

After giving our dinner orders to the server, the girls go back to looking through the baby furniture guide on Laken’s phone, ordering what I’m sure is far more than the woman will need, but I know my brother. He’ll let her get whatever her heart desires.

“It was intentional.” Hale confirms my suspicions about the garbage fire behind Ophelia’s coffee shop. It could have been a lot worse than it was, but thankfully, Jesse had seen it and instantly called for help.

“Any leads?” I ask. Hale doesn’t typically work outside the precinct office since his last promotion, but he’s making an exception with the arson investigator because he knows I intend to make Ophelia my wife.
