“No. She’ll come for him, and when she does—”

He didn’t finish that thought because the side of the building exploded and OPS came charging through.

Roth spun around at the sudden noise. His guards immediately stood in front of him, but soon dropped as OPS took them out. I continued to laugh on the ground until a boot struck me across the jaw. Okay, that really fucking hurt, and I was getting tired of getting hit in the face. What little blood was left in my body oozed from my mouth. I turned and spit so I didn’t choke on it. Enough of this shit. I slowly shifted one leg over the other until I could roll to my knees.

The guards were distracted, doing their best to take out OPS, so I took the opportunity to get to my feet, though it was difficult with a chair strapped to my back. I sighed as I stood there with chains around my body. The only way to get them off was to get the chair off me. I looked at the ground and winced. This was really going to fucking hurt.

I turned just as Roth looked at me with hatred in his eyes. He was finally getting the point that he wasn’t going to win this one. One of his guards dragged him away. With nothing else to lose, I flung myself onto my back. The chair crashed into the concrete and splintered under my weight, breaking apart upon impact.

“Motherfucker!” I shouted in pain. I rolled off the pieces of wood and stood. Pieces of the chair back fell to the ground, and then the chains followed with the additional space. Staggering, I grabbed a broken piece of the chair and spun around just as one of the guards tried to tackle me. I slammed the piece of wood directly into his chest. He stopped and gasped, his eyes going wide as he stared at me in confusion.

“Take that, motherfucker.”

Then I collapsed to my knees and bent over, sucking in a deep breath as pain washed over me. Hell, I was losing too much blood. Out of the corner of my eye, movement caught my attention. Roth was nearly to the door. I didn’t have a gun on me to stop him, but it didn’t matter. My feisty woman came out of nowhere and tackled him to the ground, pulling her gun and taking out three guards in a matter of seconds. She rolled and slammed her elbow into Roth’s throat, then watched in glee as he gasped for breath.

I got to my feet and struggled to make my way over there. I knew I didn’t have what it took to make it over there on my own.

“Need a ride?” Fox asked, grinning at me.

I shook my head tiredly. “Just a hand.”

“No problem, lover of the badass woman.”

I rolled my eyes at him. He was just too fucking weird.

My attention shot back to Rae when I heard Roth scream like a girl. She had him pinned to the floor and was slowly shoving a knife into his stomach. “Tell me where he is!” she shouted.

He spluttered, trying to get the words out, but the pain had to be unbearable. Not that it was a pleasure cruise walking around on a leg that was splintered. I shouldn’t even be walking on it, but the adrenaline hadn’t worn off yet. When it did, I would be feeling the pain and crying like a baby. Hopefully, they’d knock me out before then.

I watched in utter fascination as Rae worked. She held the knife over the man’s heart, slowly pushing it into his body. He cried out and begged her to stop. I watched as she lowered her ear to his, then grinned and yanked the knife out.

“You doing okay over there, baby?” she called out.

“Peachy.”

“You look a little worse for wear.”

I laughed at that. “Nah, just some minor wounds. Nothing serious.”

“He’s lying,” Fox laughed. “He’s about to pass out. You want me to take over for you?”

She stood and spun around, her body covered in blood from cutting Roth up. “You want to?”

A huge grin split his lips. “When do I not want to?”

Without warning, he walked away from me and I collapsed on the ground in a heap. Yeah, that adrenaline was wearing off fast. I blinked up slowly at Rae. “You good?”

She nodded. “I got the information we needed.”

“Good. Then it was worth it.”

“I don’t know. This isn’t a very good look on you.”

“I was just drawing him in, baby,” I mumbled, feeling my head swim. I knew I was going to pass out soon. “Hey, did you see me?”

“With the stake?” she grinned. “Badass.”

“Nothing but the best for my girl,” I said right before everything went dark.
