It’s going to be a doozy, given my nerves and lack of sleep.
Quietly, I roll out of bed, moving the covers back up as I go. On two feet, I stretch and roll my shoulders. Damn, I feel good. I smile, unable to help myself as I glance back down at the naked, sandy-haired man lying in my bed. He barely fits on the narrow mattress alone, much less with me by his side.
“Keep staring like that and I’m going to put you on your knees, love,” Killian says as he opens his eyes and grins wickedly.
“Oh?” I question then stalk closer to the bed. “And what will you have me do on my knees?”
That grin spreads. “I’d tell you taunting a predator is a dangerous move, but we’ve established you know exactly what it is you’re doing.”
I chuckle. “That doesn’t exactly answer my question.”
Killian scoots up against the headboard. “I’d put you on your knees and fill that smart mouth with my cock,” he replies. “Then, I’d have you fuck yourself with those delicate fingers as I fucked your mouth.”
I swallow hard, wetness pooling between my legs.
Killian inhales. “Fuck, I can smell your desire from here.”
Someone knocks on the door.
“Saved by Dunc,” Killian replies with a wink as he hops out of bed and answers the door—still completely naked.
Duncan walks in, and his gaze levels on me. It’s only then I realize that I, too, am naked as the day I was born. I make a move to cover up but then remember that I don’t have to. All three of these men want me.
And I intend to have them, too. Even if it can’t be any longer than my stay here.
But the moment he sees me, Duncan turns around and shows me his back. The dismissal hurts worse than I care to admit, which is probably why I respond like I couldn’t care less. “I’m going to get dressed for practice.” I kiss Killian noisily on the cheek then rush into the bathroom.
By the time I’ve showered and dressed, both men are gone. I stand in my empty apartment, heart surprisingly heavy. How did I go from pushing them away to hating being alone so quickly? And what the hell is Duncan’s problem? Didn’t he tell me they all wanted me? Didn’t he make a move, too?
He did, I remind myself. But that changed the minute I told them about my magic. Killian and Bracken assured me they were fine with it, but clearly, Duncan doesn’t feel the same way.
Anger spreads through my system. So, desperate to burn some of it off, I slip into some shoes and yank my door open—only to walk right into Duncan, who’d been standing on the other side.
His masculine scent invades me. I hate that it warms me from the inside. That it turns me on and pisses me off all at once.
“I thought you left,” I say in surprise.
“I thought you’d want privacy,” he says as I pull the door closed behind me.
“You do seem to know exactly what I want, don’t you?” I snap then push past him.
He falls into step behind me. Lurking just close enough that I can hear his muted bootsteps. He doesn’t speak and makes no attempt to catch up to me even as I make my way downstairs and into the dining hall.
It’s nearly empty though Liv is seated at a table by herself, scowling at a bowl of fruit. Dealing with her bad mood is ten times easier than dealing with Duncan’s, so I leave him behind and head straight for her.
“What did those grapes ever do to you?” I joke as I sit across from her.
“Adaya claims I need to eat more fruit. But all I want is French fries. Like, all the time.”
I laugh and pluck a grape from her bowl. “Fruit first then French fries.”
“Fine.” She picks a grape and eats it. Then she leans back in her chair and rubs a hand over her swollen belly. “How are you doing? I hear there was a close call.”
“The guys managed to subdue them, but yeah. Apparently, I have hunters after me now.”
Liv purses her lips. “How areyou?”
“Managing. A little irritated this morning.” I cast a glance over my shoulder at Duncan, who remains near the door.
