“Then sleep.” I pull my hand back as she scoots down further into the covers. “One of us will be back in four hours with more tea.”
“Thank you.” She looks up at me; then her gaze briefly drops to my mouth.
And because I’m an asshole, I lean in and press my lips to hers. A tender, quick peck that sets my blood on fire.
She moans softly beneath me, but before I can fully lose myself, I pull back. “Sleep well, Sway.”
“Goodnight,” she breathes.
After retrieving the mug, I slip back out into the hall. Killian and Duncan are already walking toward me.
“I know her real name,” I tell them, flashing a smirk because I know it’ll rile them up.
“You fucker. How’d you get that out of her?” Killian demands.
I grin at him then start walking toward the stairs. “She told me. I got a kiss, too.”
“The fuck you did,” Killian snaps.
I don’t answer, just walk toward the apartment we share at the end of the hall. It’s the only three-bedroom suite on the floor, the only larger apartment being D and Liv’s upstairs. I push the door open and set the mug in the sink before turning to face my brothers.
The apartments are magically warded for privacy, so others are unable to hear anything inside once the door is shut.
So, as soon as it is, I cross my arms and give them one detail I know they’re dying for right now. “Her name is Sway.”
“Sway,” Killian says, already smiling deviously. “Fitting. She sways me in throwing my morals to the side.”
“What fucking morals?” I ask with a grin.
“Fair point. But I want her.”
“So do I,” I admit. “I think...” I trail off because it’s too soon. “She’s important.”
“Dunc?” Killian questions, turning toward Duncan.
But he’s closed off now. “I don’t know enough about her.”
“Bullshit,” Killian says. “You know she calls to you, too. I can feel our pride’s connection to her.” He turns back to me, eyes narrowed in envy. “You seriously got a kiss?”
“I did,” I reply with a grin. I can feel his jealousy, and it makes me happy as fuck. “She also called me pretty.”
Killian rolls his eyes. “She called me pretty first, so fuck off.”
I punch him in the arm, and he punches me back. When we’re done wrestling, my gaze drifts to Duncan. “Whoever is after her is nasty as fuck.”
“We already knew that,” he replies.
“It’s a man,” I tell them. “Not that we didn’t already know that, but she gave me confirmation. Based on what she told me, they were close at one point. Trust was a factor.”
Duncan runs a hand through his hair. “Any idea what she is?”
“Nope. She is keeping that one locked down tight.”
“At least, we have a name now,” Duncan says. “Though we can’t do much about it. Asking around will only draw their attention here.”
“We’ll have to do the investigation ourselves,” I say. My beast stirs at the idea of hunting more of the assholes like the one we caught earlier.
“We tell D and Liv. No one else,” Killian adds.
