I’m shell-shocked and don’t have words to respond to him. They both walk into the castle, and I glance down at Siara, who slightly pulls apart from our embrace. I get a full view of her beautiful, shining face, albeit still flushed, and grin. My heart almost bursts after seeing how many decided to come to Galmoleth with us, and more than anything, it’s bursting becauseshechose to return with me.

I turn around and look at the crowd as they disperse along the roads of Galmoleth. There are hundreds of new faces for me to meet, and they all decided to follow under my rule instead of Vag’thimon’s.Vag’thimon.His voice echoes in my head as I think of the look he gave me before I stepped through the portal. He was forgiving and lenient, gracious, even.

I look at Siara, and the color has returned to her face. She’s beaming as she leans into my chest and places her hand on me, moving her thumb over my torso as if trying to calm me down. The exciting thing is that I’ve never felt this calm. Everything I ever wanted has come to me. leadership, love, and being a part of a community. This is a new beginning for all of us, and everyone that stepped through that portal knows it.

SIARA

After Drar'ran shakes Asmodeus’ hand, I watch him walk into the castle and feel my face hurt from smiling. I can tell he’s amazed at how many demons followed him into the portal, but he shouldn’t be. There’s no question that he was a great ruler when he took the throne on Galmoleth. Despite his actions, he has good intentions at heart. Who he was when he initially called on Oltyx has now developed into a mature, lovely demon, something I thought I would never say, that I can’t be happier to call mine.

I squeeze his hand and look at him as I tip my head toward the palace. He sighs and smiles at me before walking with me into the castle. We enter, and I look at the destruction caused by the quake. Drar'ran, Ti’lek, and other demons that have chosen to take residence in Galmoleth are hard at work re-hanging paintings and cleaning up glass from the chandelier.

“Hey,” Asmodeus calls to them. “Don’t worry about this. We can repair the castle later. If everyone could join me in the throne room, we have some important business to conduct.”

All of his followers and advisors follow his advice, and he walks toward the throne room. I watch him walk in front of me and smile. His mental state has switched into ‘King mode,’ and I’m excited to see what he has planned for his kingdom.

We walk into the throne room, and I look at the spot on the floor where I apologized to him profusely for opening the portal. I remember the terror on his face as he told me ‘they were here.’

Asmodeus walks up the steps to his throne and sits on it, leaning forward and clasping his hands together as he looks over the crowd that has joined him. I stand in the back against the wall and watch with awe as he begins conducting royal business.

“We will need a headcount on how many new demons have taken residence on Galmoleth,” he states to Ti’lek, who scribbles his words on a notepad. “We’ll also need to build more homes. Does anyone know of a good location to make a new complex?”

I raise my eyebrows and grin. He’s asking them for their opinions, creating a democracy amongst his followers. This is quite a different kingdom from Vag’thimon’s, and I can tell he’s proud to make these changes for everyone.

“The sandbar near the East woods would be a good location for small, single-family homes,” one of his advisors suggests.

Asmodeus nods. “That’s a good start. Where else?”

“The oceanfront to the North.”

“If we clear a path through the East woods, there’s a clearing that can host roughly ten houses, a town center, and an area for farming.”

Their planning continues, and I wonder how many new lives will be made here. The population will undoubtedly increase over time, and soon we will have a kingdom double in size.

“Also,” Asmodeus stands up and fixes his robes. “I want a welcoming ceremony for everyone, not just the new arrivals. This is a new Galmoleth, and I want them to know their opinions will be valued here. This will not be tyranny or dictatorship. This will be a world inclusive of all. Drar'ran,” Asmodeus looks at him kindly. “Please put this into place, and I want updates on the new settlements by tomorrow morning. If you have any questions, please direct them to Drar'ran. he will oversee the kingdom's operations from now on. Ti’lek will be appointed second in command, overseeing the day-to-day operations of Galmoleth.”

The advisors nod and leave the throne room, discussing creating new jobs for the new residents, starting with architects and construction. Afterward, they’re planning to open new marketplaces all around the world, ensuring every resident will be able to showcase their talents in their career.

Once they leave, Asmodeus walks down the steps of his throne and exhales as he raises his eyebrows. I smile and walk toward him, thinking seeing him speak to his advisors without his hood on is still odd. I wrap my arms around him, and he places his hand on the back of my neck as he kisses me intensely.

I close my eyes and focus on the feeling of his lips pressed against mine. A craving rests for him in my heart. I want him inside me, to devour me and claim me as his, for good. I try not to pull him in too hard, knowing he’s been through so much in the last few days. While my desire is bursting inside me, and I’m already wet, I don’t want to put more pressure on him.

We pull back from the kiss, and I chuckle. “I’ve never been more tired in my life.”

He laughs, and his fingers brush lightly against my face as he admires me. “I feel the same way. Come on,” he says as he squeezes my hand. “Let’s go rest.”

He leads me up the stairs to his chambers. I look at the disarray of the castle, and my heart sinks before I realize now we can re-create all of this for ourselves, and we can change everything, clear out the past, and make way for a brighter future.

We walk into his chambers, and I look at his bed. The metal bars that held up his canopy have fallen on top of each other. He closes the door behind me and sighs as he walks over to the bed, runs his fingers through his hair, and stares at the broken bars.

I walk up behind him and wrap my arms around his chest. “Hey,” I whisper. His head turns around slightly to look at me over his shoulder as I rub his chest with my hands. “We’ll fix it.”

As he presses me against him, my desires return. I can’t help but want to consummate our relationship after almost losing each other. I’m trying to contain my wildness, shoving down the urge to move his hand to my breasts, but I feel like I’m about to lose control if he doesn’t take me soon.

He places his hands over mine and exhales before turning around and pulling me against him gently. “We will. Siara,” he sighs. “I am so sorry for keeping the truth from you. You should have had it from the beginning. If I could turn back time…”

I stand on my tiptoes and plant a kiss on his lips. I don’t need the apologies or the sorrow, nor do I need him to repent for his sins.
