"Maybe. I didn't think much about it. No one knows that we are here." He glanced at Yamanu. "But you do."
The question was burning in the guy's eyes, but he couldn't ask it. The red color had faded a little, and the inner light had turned green, but Toven didn't remember what that meant either.
Not that it mattered.
If Jade killed Igor, the explosives wouldn't be a problem unless someone else could press the button.
"Is Igor the only one who can detonate the explosives?"
"I don't know."
"What do you suspect?"
"Maybe his second-in-command can do that. His third might do it too."
"Can Jade?"
The pureblood's eyes bugged out. "No."
"Any of the other females?"
"No."
"Where did the Kra-ell come from?"
Toven had a few minutes to spare, and it wouldn't hurt to find out a little more while he was at it.
"I don't know."
Toven let out a breath. "Were you born on Earth?"
"Yes."
"Where do you suspect they came from?"
"Somewhere hundreds of light years away."
"That's not very helpful."
Yamanu cleared his throat. "We are running out of time. Let's try the shrouding and thralling."
"Right." Toven cast an illusion of an attacking beast.
Yamanu and Bobbie flinched, Mia gasped, but the Kra-ell didn't even blink.
"I assume that you don't see anything."
The guy opened his mouth and closed it. "I still can't ask questions."
"You can ask questions now."
"What was I supposed to see?"
"Never mind. I want you to deliver a message to Jade, and you have to do it in a way that will seem as if you are inviting her to a tryst."
"Why would I want to do that? She's Igor's prime."
"Does he forbid her to have sex with other males?"
