I stood there watching as she put on her directional and pulled out into traffic leaving me standing there. Damn. I must be losing my touch. Normally, this is where I would cross her off and move on. I wasn’t sure if it was her indifference or the fact that she was so different from other women I had crossed paths with, but I wasn’t walking away just yet.
She didn’t say no. Which means she really wanted to say yes.
My cell phone buzzed and I pulled it out of my pocket.
SEVEN PM. UNCLE MARIO’S. She also provided an address.
I chuckled. Guess I haven’t lost it. I’LL BE THERE. I would rather pick her up, but I’d settle for meeting her. At least this time.
The last thing I wanted to do right now was go back into work mode, so I sent one last text, but this time to Clark.
CHANGE OF PLANS. WANT TO MEET FOR A BEER?
I didn’t need to wait long for his response. THE USUAL PLACE. TWENTY MINUTES.
At least hearing about Clark’s latest conquest would give me the distraction I needed.
