THREE

The spa was a dream.

Seriously, if Savannah could have designed her ideal place, this was it. Parker Bishop had thought of everything, and then some. They’d taken a very thorough tour of the entire facility—every nook, every cranny—and had done all the required new hire paperwork. There had been a brief moment of confusion when Savannah used her maiden name on the paperwork since it differed from the one used on her application, but she cleared it up quickly with a simple, “My divorce just became final.”

Now, as they were sitting in Parker’s second-story office—which was fabulously chic—it was obvious that her new boss had a ton of questions for her. Savannah would bet good money that none of them had to do with her skills as a massage therapist or esthetician.

“So,” Parker began as she shifted to get comfortable. “How are you settling in? Have you checked out the town yet?”

Okay. Basic conversation she could deal with.

“Actually, not that much, but I went out last night for dinner and it was fabulous.”

The foodandthe handsome man she’d met.

Just thinking about him now was enough to make her hum with appreciation. He was so freaking…everything—dirty blond hair, blue eyes, strong jaw, and muscles.

So. Many. Muscles.

When they had danced together, she fought the urge to run her hands over each and every one of them.

Then she’d had some thoughts about how they’d look if he took his shirt off.

Her cheeks heated and she could only hope she wasn’t blushing.

It had been the perfect night and the only thing that could have made it better was if Jack had asked for her number. She had to remind herself that she was far too busy to even think about dating anyone, but it would have been nice if he had wanted to see her again.

And she absolutely refused to obsess over why he didn’t.

Still…the least she could have gotten was more than a kiss goodnight on the cheek.

The cheek! For crying out loud. What am I, twelve?

“Ooh…where did you go?” Parker asked.

“Um…the pub around the corner. The food was amazing and there was live music…”And a sexy as hell guy who made my tummy flutter.“I ate, I danced, and…you know, I was celebrating the divorce so…” She shrugged. “Overall, it was a good night.”

“I have been wanting to go over and grab some food from them, but my sister has a café over in Magnolia and I feel like I’d be cheating on her,” Parker explained with a laugh.

“Risk it,” Savannah said firmly. “I’m telling you; you won’t regret it. Plus, she’s your sister, so she’ll have to forgive you. The food there isthatgood.”

“Now I’m intrigued…”

After giving her a rundown of the drinks, the potato skins, the ranch dressing, and both burgers, Parker’s eyes went wide.

“You ate two burgers? Did Uncle Cash go with you?”

It wasn’t an intrusive question, just a natural inquiry, but it still gave her pause.

“Um…no.”

“So then youdideat two burgers.”

“Not exactly…”

Ugh, why am I being so weird about this?

“I met a guy there and he joined me for dinner,” she blurted out. “And then we played darts and danced and then…that’s it.”
