“Yeah. Then we run to the left.”
“Not before taking out the councils,” Delaney adds. “We need to kill as many of those fuckers as we can while we escape.”
“I agree,” Willa interjects. “It’s well past time for The Accords to burn.” The fire in her gaze, the heat in her words—they’re reflected in me as well, and I remember all of the times the shadow magic pushed me to destroy the council so I could take over.
My motive has changed, but the task still feels necessary. Maybe more so even, given what we know now.
“I’m happy to burn right along with it if that’s what it takes,” she adds.
“It’s well past time for the councils to burn,” Eira says.
“Then let us sacrifice ourselves for the good of the many, shall we?” Rainey offers. “I better end up in a fucking supernatural history book for this one.” Elijah wraps an arm around her shoulders and presses a kiss to her temple.
“You don’t think we’ll make it out?” Delaney questions.
“Do you?”
Delaney doesn’t respond, just leans into Cole, tears in her eyes.
I glance around at everyone in the room, knowing good and damn well this might be the last time we’re all here. All because of power-hungry supernaturals who elected themselves to be in charge. And we let them.
Every supernatural in the world allowed these assholes to tell us what to do, who to love, how to behave…and what makes them so qualified? Every single one of them sits in their seats and looks down on us like they are so much better.
They were supposed to be watching out for us, protecting us from being discovered and hunted by the humans.
And instead, they turned on us.
Heart pounding in my chest, I nod. “Then let’s burn it all to the fucking ground.”
