Texting my driver, I shoved my phone back in my pocket. “Because until it’s finalized, I won’t get her hopes up.”
“But I thought you were certain Mr. Fletcher would want to buy once the deal with Mr. Ford was done.”
“Yes, but there are a lot of details to hammer out. I have to find a way to get Rose and myself out of the contract. I’m pretty sure I have everything in place, but if it falls through, I’ll just be disappointing Rose.”
“Don’t wait too long to tell her. I’m sure just knowing there’s a plan in place will make her feel a lot better.”
“I’ll take that under advisement.”
“Hurry up. With traffic at this time of day, you’ll barely have time to shower and get back here.”
I nodded and headed downstairs. I thought about what Alisha said, but in the end decided to wait until things were a little more stable. I needed to know I was likely to succeed, not just hopeful.
