Page 56 of Wrapped in Winter

I walk in and glance around. It’s warm and cozy, definitely not a bachelor pad, which I shouldn't be surprised about. Drake is looking to make a home here.

I kick my boots off before continuing into the home, walking into the open space and turn around, leaning against the couch. He’s followed me and leans against the wall a few feet away. The hallway behind him is dark, but I see a light on in the room past him.

“Girls night ended early?” he asks, crossing his ankle over the other.

“Something like that.”

“I don’t remember giving you my address.” he raises a brow.

I raise mine and say, “It’s not hard to find someone in a small town.”

He grins. “I’m glad you came looking. Guess I’m just wondering why?” he’s got a smug look.

“News travels fast.”

He chortles and walks toward me, kissing me when he gets in front of me. “I won’t apologize for what I said to him.”

“Why don’t you tell me what you said?”

He grins again, rubbing my cheek with his thumb. “I have a feeling you already know. Let me guess. Jack called you and Courtney.”

“He did but he didn’t go into specifics.” I stare back at the man who crashed into my life just over three months ago and wonder how we got here so fast. I think back to when I metSean and how quickly that moved but if I’m honest with myself, I knew it wasn’t right. I always had a strange gut feeling that things weren’t what they seemed.

And that proved true.

It’s different with Drake. From the first night, I knew there was something about him, somethinggood.

“Let me fill you in.”

He throws the towel onto the couch behind me and takes my hand, leading me down the hall and into his room. I go willingly and when I step into his bedroom, I gasp. “Drake, it’s gorgeous in here.” The ranch is a log cabin so all the walls are wood. One whole wall is glass with a sliding door that leads onto a deck. It’s snow covered and the small light outside accentuates the snowflakes that are beginning to fall. The dressers are black and the bed has a dark grey comforter on it with lots of pillows.

And in the corner of the room is a wood burning stove.

“You’re just like Courtney. Is this why you make fun of my electric fireplace?” I turn to find him leaning against the door jamb. I’ve completely wandered into the middle of his room. “Oh, I’m sorry. I just walked right in here and–”

He stalks toward me quickly, capturing me in his arms. “Don’t ever apologize to me. I love seeing you in here.” He brushes the hair from my face. “I want you to feel comfortable here, January, wherever I am, I want you to be happy and enjoying whatever it is you're doing.”

“I invaded your space.”

“You also showed up to my house without me giving you my address but you don’t see me complaining.” He teases me and I cover my face, burying it in his chest. He tips my chin up to look at him. “Tell me what you came to say.”

“I don’t want to talk anymore.” I step back from him and unbutton my coat. He gently turns me and helps me out of it.

“Don’t move.” He whispers in my ear before pressing his front to my back. His hands knead at my hips before running along the top of my jeans. I inhale as he dips his hands into the waistband and undoes the button on them. He slides the zipper down and pulls them down over my ass and hips to the floor, tapping my leg and urging me to step out of each leg. Once I do he tosses the jeans to the side and slowly comes back to standing, running his hand up the outside of my legs as he does.

I shiver at his touch and bask in the care he shows. He grabs my arms and extends them over my head. “Leave them up.” He gathers the hem of my long sleeve shirt and pulls it up and over my head. I shake my hair out leaving my arms in the air still as his fingertips drift along my forearms. He grabs the tank top I had on under it and pulls it over my head as well. I drop my arms as he circles me and comes to standing in front of me.

His eyes dilate as he takes me in. “I thought the pink was hot, but your tits wrapped in black lace?” He whistles. “You’re a fucking dream come true, January.”

I stand unmoving waiting for him to give direction. I was never that woman to be told what to do, I never thought I would enjoy it in the bedroom but once again, Drake makes it enjoyable. He empowers me even if I’m letting him do the talking.

That wall that was built so high with untapped raw emotions, feelings of being worthless and alone, mourning a life that was once good, is coming down. And it’s all because of Drake.

“You dream about me?”

He runs his fingers along my bra strap down to the cup tracing the lace. Goosebumps erupt on my skin and flutters in my belly. “Every night since we met.” His hand drops to my stomach and his fingers linger as he circles me again and walks me closer to the bed. He moves my hair off my neck and lays akiss on my shoulder. He kneels behind me and hooks his fingers into the side of my panties, pulling them down my legs.

“Drake.”
