“Your heart eyes are scaring me.”

I bark a laugh. “Should I switch to my fuck me eyes?”

She snickers and buries her face in my chest, the snowflakes sticking to her hair. “I shouldn't ask you this now because we have a lot of shopping to get finished but…” Her words drift off.

“But …”

“Lily is staying overnight at Blossom’s house. Will you stay with me tonight?”

Her eyes are vulnerable; she’s clearly afraid of my answer, as if I’d ever tell her no. My heart begins thumping in my chest but I have to do my best to not scare her. “You're right. You shouldn't have asked me.” She frowns, but I hold her tighter. “Because now all I’m picturing is everything I’m going to do to youtonight.” Her blush is deep and I punctuate my comment with a tilt of my hips. “And now my dick is hard. Come on, January! How am I supposed to shop like this?”

She snickers. “Is there a stockroom around?”

My eyes get wide. “You heard that story, too?”

“Oh, Drake. Small towns and big ears. Plus, I know my sister. Give your friend a warning. She’s a maneater.”

Chapter 13

January

Walking through Party House, looking forLittle Mermaidparty decorations, hand-in-hand with Drake was overwhelming. But in a good way. I let myself enjoy it. I didn’t look back, I didn’t wonder what was coming, I simply let myself be in the moment. And it was the most fun I’ve had in a long time.

“Tell me about this Prince Eric guy?” I guffaw as he combs through the mermaid and sea creature decorations. “Do I have to be worried?”

“Just don’t give in to a mermaid singing to you, and I think you’ll still be at the top of her list.”

He shakes his head. “She’s going to make me watch it with her, isn’t she?”

“Oh absolutely. I’m sure it will be on tomorrow. Along with the soundtrack.” I roll my eyes. “I can repeat it word for word.” I pause, suddenly realizing everyone will be at my house tomorrow. “My mom will be there tomorrow,” I breathe out with a bit of anxiety.

Without missing a beat, he says. “Cool. Moms love me.”

My brows pull together, and I let out a small laugh. “Okay,” is all I can say.

He throws some tablecloths and napkins into the cart, and I grab streamers and candles. “Let’s get some balloons, and we can head home.”

The second home is out of my mouth, I freeze. He turns to me with wide eyes and a sly smirk, and I quickly bark out, “I didn't mean it like that.”

“What did you mean then?” He raises a brow.

“I just meant, like, we were done here, you know? So we can head… back.”

“Backhome?” He backs me up against the display stand, hands on my hips. “I can’t wait to go home with you. And you better hope your home is soundproof.”

“Dra—” He covers my mouth with a kiss so dominating I’m left breathless. He pulls back and glances down then back to me again. “And now I’m hardagain.”

“It’s becoming a problem. You’re like a teenage boy.” I push him away and laugh as he pulls at his jacket.

“Good thing I don’t fuck like one.”

Oh my god, this man and his mouth. “Can you make it through the checkout?”

“You better make it quick.” His eyes are dilated with lust, and the way he’s looking at me makes me feel the sexiest I’ve ever felt.

I slide away from him and grab the cart and begin walking. He comes up behind me, placing his hands over mine on the cart, and we walk together. The whole time I can feel just how excited he is.

The drive home is faster than usual, and I can’t help but let out little laughs at each of his huffs when we pull up to a red light or he’s stuck behind a snow plow.
