"He's not my uncle. He's a member of Havlin Motorcycle Club." She wrinkled her nose. "He's family but not related to me."
"It's a figure of speech, bitch."
She leaned against Mariah, needing the support of her best friend. "What am I going to do? I can't just make these feelings go away."
Mariah put her hands on Skye's shoulders and looked her in the eyes. "Are you sure you love him in that way?"
She nodded.
"Okay." Mariah lowered her voice. "Then, I'll help you."
"Help me...how?" She shook her head, confused.
There was nothing anyone could do. Dio hadn't noticed her. Maybe he wasn't even open to a relationship with her because of her age and the fact that she was Maverick's daughter.
Dio was the real deal. A loyal man who would protect her for the rest of her life. He always put her first. But she couldn't force him to see her as a sexual person. Could she?
"Just wait." Mariah cocked her eyebrow. "He won't know what hit him."
She bit the inside of her cheek. If Mariah believed they could pull something over on Dio, she was insane.
Chapter Eight
Korn played over the speaker, blocking out the conversations at the city pool. Dio hung his arms over a foam noodle, letting his body float and relax in the deep end. He'd overdone it today, riding too many miles.
His back was weak as fuck when he had to carry around his weight.
In the pool, he felt lighter and gained some relief.
It was almost as good as one of Skye's massages. Almost. Not even close, but it was all he could do.
At the side of the pool, Maverick held up his hand while Brooke waved goodbye to everyone. Dio raised a finger from the water.
Bane jumped in and swam to Dio, coming up and shaking the water from his hair. Dio blinked the drops out of his vision.
"How's the back?" Bane treaded water.
"Fine as long as I don't move." He had his doubts whether he could walk out of the pool.
It took him five minutes to strip down and walk his way down the steps. But he would take advantage of the water while the Havlin members had the pool tonight.
"Been there, brother." Bane moved away from him. "Yell if you need help."
He hated feeling weak and needing help. It wasn't something he was used to doing.
A loud wolf whistle echoed inside the pool area, and cheers drowned out the music. Dio looked at the doorway to see what had everyone's attention, and his whole body tensed.
Skye bent over and grabbed her knees, twerking her bare ass, playing for the Havlin members giving her attention. It took Dio a few seconds to understand that she had a bikini on. The back was a thin strip of material, reminding him of the thong she wore in his bed. Instead of her usual one-piece swimsuit that she wore to swim laps in the morning, this outfit was something she'd wear around guys her age.
The top failed to cover her breasts and only succeeded in hiding her nipples.
He dragged his gaze off her and looked around for Maverick. His MC brother's timing couldn't have been worse. He missed seeing his daughter at a Havlin pool party—something she hadn't come to before.
Instead of jumping in the pool, Skye walked to the shallow end and spoke with Daisy and Rachel. Ruger walked away from the group, studying the pool as he made it to the side of the deep end.
Seeing Dio, Ruger stopped and pointed. "Does Maverick know Skye is here?"
"Don't know."
