Either way, my omega and I were embracing our pack. We weren’t meant to be alone and I believed all of them now.
They were mine.
“I think we’re going to have to hire more staff,” Maverick said as he walked closer, eyeing us. “I don’t want to be here any more than you do.”
“Avery would kill us,” Cameron said, though the argument was weak. In just a few months they’d turned around the bar, only to find their respective packs. With just Nash left, it was shifting yet again.
Then again, I had a feeling that Cameron would go crazy if he tried to stay home too often.
“You’d miss it,” I said. “We can’t spend every day in a bubble. We have lives and jobs. Hell, I’ll be opening my shop up eventually.”
“How’s that going?” Nash asked, leaning around Maverick to look at me.
“Really good thanks to Cameron finding stock over the years,” I admitted. “Which, we have to talk about me paying you back. I can’t profit off of things you bought.”
“Call them donations to the cause, a tribute to my omega, a badass courting gift,” Cameron hummed, squeezing me tighter as if that would stop me from arguing.
“Cameron,” I warned but he just shook his head and took my hand.
“Come dance with me for old time’s sake,” he said, dragging me out from behind the bar and toward the very crowded dance floor.
I didn’t have to worry about the crowd closing in because Cam’s arms closed around me, one on my waist, the other taking my hand. We’d done this countless times… but that was a lifetime ago.
“I’m rusty, I haven’t danced since our last one,” I admitted. His eyes shadowed for a minute.
“I’ve stolen enough time from you, Baby. It’s time to reclaim some of our favorites,” he said as the song shifted.
Cameron didn’t hesitate to start leading, like we hadn’t skipped a beat. The upbeat country dance mix had the crowd hyped up but soon all eyes were on us.
My eyes were only on my alpha.
His cypress and bayberry scent swirled around me, pushing aside the strange medley of scents that always happened in crowded spaces like this.
The more we moved, the easier it was. Following my alpha was thoughtless, my body responding with every shift and move, letting him maneuver my body with his.
His eyes were light and happy, the hazel shining with happy flecks of gold. They seemed brighter in the warm light of the bar, or maybe this was the first time I really let myself admire the man who shattered my heart.
Our lives shifted and changed from the last time we were dancing here, but I couldn’t find it in me to be angry anymore. That separation made me stronger, and yes it hurt, but in the end I found my beta, then the rest of my pack even though I didn’t know it at the time.
Now, here I was, falling back in love with the man working hard to mend my shattered pieces back together, one gesture or letter at a time.
“I love you, Cameron,” I told him, seeing no reason to hold back.
He stopped dancing, so stunned as he blinked down at me.
“I hated you for a long time, but I don’t anymore. I see what you’ve done and what you’re doing… and I just. Love you.”
I shrugged. It wasn’t eloquent or perfect, but it was from the heart.
He grinned then, the smile dazzling before he put his hands on my cheeks and pulled me closer, slanting his lips over mine.
“I’m taking you home now, Baby. Is that okay?”
“Yes, alpha.”
He moved faster than I processed and then I was tossed over his shoulder. His hand landed on my ass, holding the dress down to cover me before calling out to his brothers.
“We’re going home, cover me!” he yelled before storming out the door. The rest of our pack fell into step around us, shielding me from view.
