My fingers tighten around her neck until she can no longer suck in those desperate breaths. “Tell me … who else have you seen me kill?”
“No one—”
“Don’t lie to me, thief,” I growl, my fingers digging into her precious skin. “I know a liar when I see one.”
Her whole face turns red as the buzzing increases, and I briefly glance at Heath to see him pressing some button, as if he’s trying to keep her from talking.
And it makes me squint, so I release her throat just enough to talk.
“Fine. I was there. Last night,” she says after a while, but then her eyes home in on Heath. “And he knew.”
That motherfucker …
I look his way and rage literally pours out through my mouth. “You knew she was the one who watched us kill that fucker?!”
She snorts. “Max told him. Because he found me.”
Suddenly, the door bursts open as Max storms inside, glaring at all of us with widening eyes.
And my blood has never run colder.
Max looks shell-shocked. “Oh fuck.”
They kept this from me? Deliberately?
I march over to Max and grip his shirt. “You fucking foundherwhen I told you to go look for whoever was watching us kill?!” I shake him. “You foundher… and you let her escape.”
“I couldn’t—”
“Are you even our friend?”
“Yes!” Max exclaims.
But I don’t fucking trust a word he says.
He let her off the hook, which means there’s something more going on than I know about.
“Then why the fuck are you even here, huh?” I ask.
“I told him not to come because we were busy … with a girl.” Heath rolls his eyes.
I pull him closer, hissing in his face, “Max, I swear to fucking Christ, if you don’t tell me the truth right now—”
“Heath sent me a PM minutes ago about seeing her ogle you in the shower,” he says swiftly, and he holds up his phone for me to see.
Heath: Guess who’s watching Silas shower naked? I’m going to have so much fucking fun playing with her … and you won’t even be there to watch.
I frown.“Why the fuck would he send you this?”
Heath’s skin begins to glow. He snatches Max’s phone from his hand and chucks it into the corner of the room.
I focus my gaze on Heath. “Why didn’t you fucking tell me you knew all this?!”
“Because you would’ve killed him for letting her go,” he says. “And I won’t allow that.”
Now my eyes twitch even more.
That arrogant son of a bitch.
