“That doesn’t surprise me in the least,” he laughed. “No worries. I’ll have to head back to my place and pack up myapartment. I’ve been on a month to month lease for years, so it won’t be a big deal to cut ties.”

“It’s like you were waiting for us,” I teased.

“Oh, I was,” he promised. Spencer reached into his pocket and pulled out a small gift box. “I know you didn’t want to go crazy with courting but I refuse to let this moment go by and not make it known to the world that I’m claiming you.”

My heart slammed in my chest and a heat spread through me that had nothing to do with how turned on he made me.

It was all him. This caring, sweet, strong, and charming alpha had chosen me and was making sure I felt special every chance he got.

Even better. He loved my beta as much as he loved me.

I carefully peeled off the bow and stuck it to his coat before ripping off the wrapping and tossing it in the trash can nearby. I didn’t need gifts, I just needed him, but still I couldn’t help but feel so pleased by his actions.

The box was nice and from a jewelry store I didn’t recognize, which meant he’d put time and effort into getting it for me. Tears burned at my eyes and I felt like a big baby until he kissed my temple and swiped at the lone tear that escaped.

“You going to open it?”

“Yes,” I said in a reverent whisper, pulling it open to see the gorgeous watch inside. The leather band was soft and the bronze and glass faceplate shined in the sparkling lights we were standing under.

With careful hands I pulled it from the box and turned it, seeing a word imprinted in the underside of the leather.

Mine.

The wind caught and I froze, giving him a wide-eyed stare as I brought the watch to my nose. It was so strong of his scent that I knew it was no coincidence.

“It’s infused with my scent so no matter where you go, I’m always with you,” he said in a soft voice, his fingers trailing over my jaw.

He took my wrist and rubbed it along his cheek before wrapping the watch around me and fastening it. I stared down at the gift in awe. I’d never been given anything quite so meaningful and sweet.

“Spencer?”

“Yeah,” he asked, still standing inches away.

“Take me home. I need you,” I begged. A wide grin spread across his face and he pulled me down the street.

We were home within ten minutes and we kept it together until he closed the door of my room behind him. He shed his jacket and set his gaze on me.

“Undress. I want to watch.”

I swallowed hard as I stared at the hungry look he was giving me. He leaned back against the dresser and crossed his ankles, watching and waiting for me to give him the show he was anticipating.

Stepping away, I took my time, shrugging out of my coat first, before tossing it aside. My fingers wanted to fumble but I took a breath and forced myself to focus. One button after the other was freed before my shirt fell open showing him my lean, but soft stomach.

He eyed me like I was a treasure.

Each new article of clothing that I dropped aside he watched as he licked his lips and palmed the rising bulge in his pants.

When I was down to my boxers I turned around and slid them down, sticking my ass out for him.

The scent of my alpha and his own pheromones mixed with mine, filling the room with an intoxicating scent that had me panting as I stood wearing nothing but the watch he’d given me.

He was on me before I could fully straighten, his fingers finding my hips and digging in, pulling me against him and nipping at my neck.

“So fucking perfect,” he groaned as he turned me around and sat me on the edge of the bed.

I guess it was my turn to watch.

The moment his fingers went to pull his shirt off I knew why he liked it so much. There was no silly dance or lightness to the actions. We were too far gone for that.
