Page 80 of Till Death Do Us Part

Scanning from his wavy hair to his prominent brow, dark brown eyes, and freshly shaved cheeks, I stepped closer, the scent of his sandalwood cologne filling my senses. “Am I smiling?”

“You most definitely are. It’s a gorgeous smile. I especially like it after your cunt convulses around my cock and your fingernails try to shred my shoulders.”

This banter was foreign to me. That kind of talk should make me uncomfortable. However, evidenced by the twisting in my core and tightening of my nipples, the only part that was uncomfortable was the way my husband could dampen my panties with only words and a sexy smile.

My smile.

I hadn’t told Aléjandro the specifics of my talks with Josefina, so I went with another truth. “I think this time away has been good.”

He wrapped his arm around my waist and tugged my hips toward his. I craned my neck to keep sight of his dark mahogany orbs. “If it’s only beengood, I need to up my game.”

More warmth filled my cheeks as I tilted my forehead to his shirt.

He lifted my chin with his thumb and forefinger. “Just say the word, Mia. We’ll up it to three, four, five times a day. We’re going to need to work out a morning and night schedule.” He shrugged. “Maybe during the night, too, but I think it’s doable.”

Ignoring his comments—because I was beginning to realize his jest was often only a cover for his truth—I changed the subject. “I’m smiling because we’re going home.”

“Our home.” He nodded. “I’m glad you’re ready to go back.”

“I’ve been thinking about furniture. Your mom got me some decorating magazines. They have great ideas.”

He released my chin with a kiss to my nose. “I’m glad you’re excited about it.”

“I am.” My smile dimmed. “We’ll be safe there, right?”

“Yes. I promise.”

“I trust you. Has anything else happened with the bratva?”

“Else?” His forehead furrowed.

“Since the break-in at our place.”

Aléjandro took a step back. “I told you about the attack on the Ruiz home.”

I shook my head, concern twisting in my stomach. “No. Which one?”

“Andrés’s.”

My fingertips came to my lips. “Catalina’s family. What happened? Is everyone all right?”

“One of their guards was killed. Em said he’d been with the family for a long time.”

“Were the intruders caught?”

My husband nodded.

“They won’t be bothering any of us again.” It wasn’t exactly a question. I knew how Dario’s men would deal with people who terrorized anyone in the famiglia.

“No. We don’t need to worry about them.”

I had an idea. “Are they the same ones who broke into our house? If they were, the threat level can go down.”

Aléjandro feigned a smile. The muscles pulled taut in his temples. “Silas has been working tirelessly. Rei too. We will be better protected than the crown jewels.”

“Rei?”

“He’s a genius when it comes to technology. I don’t know how he’s learned all that he has, but damn, I’m glad he’s on our side.”
