"Paco, calm down, man." Curley pinned him to the ground.
He shook his head, trying to get the past out of his head. Priest held his hair, immobilizing him. Trying to get his feet under him, he realized others were holding down his legs.
Hissing, he contracted all his muscles, trying to break away.
"We've got you." Priest's face hovered over his. "That's it. Go ahead and wear yourself out."
He tried to get up again, weakness overcoming him. Sucking in air, he gave up.
"Breathe, brother," said Banks.
He cleared his throat, the moment becoming clearer. "Josie?"
"Safe inside with Cami." Banks pushed off his legs and kneeled. "Let him go. He's got it."
The others released him with a slap on his chest. He remained on his back in the parking lot in front of the clubhouse and inhaled a few deep breaths. He'd almost lost it inside the back room of the casino, seeing the girls tied up, lying on the floor, side to side.
There was a trailer parked behind the casino. He understood the women were minutes away from being transported off the casino to areas that would sell them to the highest bidder.
It'd taken everything in him to concentrate on killing the two men. He'd almost expected the women to be dead when he finally made it to them. But Callie and the other woman had looked at him with so much hope in their eyes. They were alive.
The kidnappers had already shipped out the third woman, and he hated that he couldn't have saved her.
Priest held out his arm. Paco grasped the offered hand and pulled himself to his feet. Like every time he lost it, he felt weak as a baby.
"I need to get out of here." He swept his hair back. The strands stuck in the dried blood on his face.
"You need stitches." Priest tipped Paco's head, taking a closer look. "I'll send the doctor to your house."
There was no use arguing. Stitches or no stitches, he was going to get the hell out of here and be by himself. If he stayed, he'd go inside to see Josie, and after killing two of the guards tonight, he wasn't good enough to be around her.
